We want every patient to be able to read this site, understand what we offer, and get in touch — whatever device, browser, or assistive technology they use.

The standard we aim for

This site is designed and built to conform to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, and we test against that standard as the site changes. Automated and code-level checks are complete; testing with assistive technology is ongoing. That is the level referenced by the Americans with Disabilities Act guidance for healthcare providers and by California state accessibility requirements.

What that means in practice

  • Every image carries descriptive alternative text for screen readers.
  • Pages use one main heading with a logical heading structure underneath, so screen reader users can navigate by section.
  • A “Skip to main content” link appears when you press Tab, so keyboard users can bypass the navigation.
  • Every control can be reached and operated with a keyboard, and the focused item is always visibly outlined.
  • Text meets the required contrast against its background, and form fields have visible labels with errors reported on the field itself rather than only as a colour change.
  • The short introductory clip on the About page can be paused, and it does not play automatically if your device asks for reduced motion.
  • Animations are switched off for visitors whose system is set to reduce motion.
  • The site works at any window size and can be zoomed without content being cut off.

Known limitations

We would rather name these than imply the site is perfect:

  • The map in the footer is an embedded map supplied by OpenStreetMap. Loading it sends your IP address to OpenStreetMap. Our full address, phone number and links to Apple Maps, Google Maps and Waze sit directly beneath it, so nothing depends on the map loading.
  • Our before-and-after photographs are clinical images. Alternative text describes what each image shows, but photographs of surgical results cannot be fully conveyed in words.
  • Content published through our blog is written in the practice dashboard. We check it for headings and alternative text, but errors may occasionally reach the page before we catch them.

Third-party content

Some parts of this site rely on services we do not control, including our appointment request form and the footer map. We chose them with accessibility in mind, but we cannot guarantee the accessibility of software supplied by others.
